It's Time to Dig In - Classes Begin!

Here I am in a sweet little local food joint in Hong Kong during our first night there. I love chopsticks.

Classes begin this week and we are back in our normal schedules again. I am very excited about this semester in the Apostolic Mission School (AMS). This school is a graduate-level school devoted to reforming missions through night and day prayer and worship. As the world is changing rapidly so too must our training institutions train in such a way that will keep up with what God is doing all over the earth. We need spiritual leaders who can bring the timely words from God to reach this generation for Jesus (as opposed to professional program oriented leaders who don't have time for prayer and fasting). Prayer and fasting are essential to any follower of Jesus (Matthew 5-7 - especially chapter 6), thus our spiritual leaders must be doing this. Those training to be leaders in the Body of Christ in the coming days will need to spend a majority of their training by "eating and digesting" the Word of God in the place of prayer and fasting. This is what AMS is committed to. Every student is required to fast two days a week and spend at least 24 hours a week in the place of prayer. For more information visit www.ihop.org/ams or ask me to send you a brochure.

My classes this semester are as follows:

History of the World Christian Movement Monday 9am–12pm This course outlines the historical expansion of the Church worldwide within a missiological framework, highlighting the relationship between prayer, renewal and mission.

Engaging in Mission Cross-Culturally Tuesday 9am–12pm This course combines insights from anthropology, communication theory and contextualization models, enabling students to effectively relate and communicate the gospel in cross-cultural situations.

Planting Apostolic Communities Trans-Culturally (PACT) Wednesday 9am–12pm This course explores church planting movements, the spontaneous expansion of the church and their relationship to the emerging global prayer and worship movement.

Biblical Praxis of Mission Thursday 9am–12pm This course focuses on the function and form of the Church in this age, translating theory into practice in light of our destiny in the coming Kingdom.

I am very excited to be preparing to be a witness of Jesus the Messiah. Jesus says, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys to death and of Hades." (Revelation 1:17, 18) He is our only hope. You can help me to train to make Him known to the hopeless by praying fervently for our ministry and giving financially. Thank you for partnering with us as we partner with the Lord.
